DH is turning 40 in June, and I want to throw him a surprise party. There will be people coming in from out of state, a couple from England. Total guest list will probably be around 30 or 40 people. Any ideas on where we can have it? We live in Morrisville, and I was thinking of having it at a hotel or a community center - have the food catered which will be very convenient for me...and I think I am getting quite a headstart with 6 months in hand.

Would appreciate it if anyone who has done the same thing can point me towards what they did, where they did it and a ball park figure of how much it cost.

Thanks,

D

Based on my experience with my wedding, my recommendation would be to use a B&B. If you have all your out-of-town guests stay at the B&B then you can hang out with them for a long time after the official party and you aren't limited to just a two hour rental time. I had my wedding at Celebrity Dairy @The Inn at Celebrity Dairy - (919) 742-5176 -Chatham County, North Carolina . You can find other local B&Bs through Bed and Breakfast Inns ONLINE - BBOnline.com - Travel * Lodging * Bed and Breakfasts * Country Inns. I noticed Morehead Manor in Durham does events and I'm sure there are more. Durham North Carolina Bed and Breakfast, Raleigh NC Lodging, Morehead Manor, Duke University
I'm not sure on costs; you'd have to call around.

Wow, I was not aware that there is a 2 hr rental period only...that kind of sucks...

Thanks for the links.

The Embassy Suites in Cary does some nice functions, and it would also allow your out of town guests (and even locals) the convenience of staying where the fun is.
