I am staying in Raleigh, NC for the last 4 and half months. I have got my SSN and EAD and started applying for jobs here. I have experience in Writing career, but right now I am open to any kind of job. But no response in coming. Can you please suggest?

Have a look at the State employment website Job Seekers
Jobs (good ones) are still hard to come by around here . My wife has been looking for the last 3 years, has had interviews but still no job and she has 3 masters degrees!

Can you provide a little more detail about your work / education background and the type of skills you have and the kind of job you are looking for?
I am guessing that English is not your first language? It is hard enough for native English speakers to get writing jobs, especially right now. What other fields could you work in?

Please suggest something in Raleigh...
This really isn't a job postings board. NC's unemployment is among the highest of any state, and many people who post on this board are themselves unemployed.
But yes, you do need to narrow it down other than "any kind of job" if you are asking for advice. Besides the already high unemployment, there are thousands of people from other states applying to work here, and all of the colleges are sending out fresh new crops of graduates as of this week. It's probably the worst time to be looking, especially with so many colleges nearby.
You should register with monster.com and other such sites, for starters, but it's best to hone in on one specific area you are looking for. How did you come to be in this area in the first place if it wasn't for a job?

Thanks for your reply.
I am a non-immigrant dependent visa holder with a valid Employment Authorization. I moved in to Raleigh because my husband got transferred here. I have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature. I did Post Graduation in Journalism. I have 3.5 yrs of experience in Technical and Content Writing back in India. I am primarily looking for a Writing job. However, I am also open for positions like Data Entry, Medical Billing, Administrative and Clerical jobs to start with. Please help me if you have any suggestion.
I use indeed.com and simplyhired.com. If you are looking for data entry or technical writing you might try Kelly Services/Kelly Technical or places like Robert Half accounting, Matrix, etc. Have you considered looking for work with companies outside this area? If your field is writing, you could work from home and communicate with your company online. Have you considered starting a blog about some topic that interests you? You might get some exposure that way. I assume you have an existing writing portfolio that you can show/share with a prospective employer? I find that the Indian community is pretty close here. Have you tried asking friends who the local Indian (or other) recruiters are? This forum is a great place for advice like what you've already been given, but it isn't a job board. You won't find specific jobs discussed here.
It may take a while to find work. I finished my Master's degree in Business 2 years ago. I had previously earned a BS in Computer Science and worked in the IT field for 10 years. I'm trying to find a position as Implementation Consultant utilizing my skills in IT systems design and project management. I'm willing to do either domestic or international travel. I can speak German and Chinese, not fluently but enough to make conversation. I'm still looking after all this time. I've been applying for other jobs that match my skill set, IT Manager, Project Manager, Consultant, even Systems Engineer, but nothing has happened yet. Two months ago, I had an interview for an Implementation Consultant position with a small company in Raleigh but it didn't work out. They had some problems which they admitted to in the interview. I would have been a great fit for what they were looking for. Unfortunately, I didn't get the position. At least unemployment gives me more time to post on City-Data, play with my cats, and eat potato chips.
I mention my story not to discourage you, but to give you an idea of how many people have been looking for work for a very long time. BTW, your first and second posts sound like they were written by two different people. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe you forgot to use the preview button? You can still edit a post even after it's been submitted and posted to the board. (I just used that feature to edit this paragraph.) As a writer, I'm sure you understand the need to be accurate and precise.
Thank you for the long replies. I have already started a travel blog. Moderator cut: No links to personal blogs allowed. I don't have many friends here. That is why I don't get any information about the Indian recruiters in this area. Do you think I should visit the companies personally and submit my resume to them? Will it work? I have also tried to contact the staffing agencies here, but their response was like "Post your resume online and that's it". Don't know how to proceed further!!
