I just have to comment that the skies here in NC are really amazing to look at. I previously lived in SoCal and you just don't get many dramatic skies there, with the exception of sunsets. I've lived here a year now, and stupid as it sounds, I've never been more fascinated with weather and watching storm systems move through. For example, this morning it was wonderfully warm at 6:30/7 am with gusty winds and multiple layers of clouds swiftly moving overhead... Each layer well defined and the uppermost one a pretty bright salmon color. The lowest level hanging quite low. I swear, the cloud ceiling here is much lower than in Calif. I'm sure if you grew up here you probably never notice this stuff, but in SoCal you rarely get anything interesting overhead.

That is very true. Same with Northern California. California weather is good for vacation but not for everyday living. I've lived in Triangle area for one and half years and looking at the sky still make my heart beat. It's beautiful every single moment.
They are as they say Carolina Blue! Sunsets if viewed at just the right angle are NC. State Red! And when the Sun is at the right angle the sunrise sky for a brief moment is DUKE Blue! So yes we have it all here.
Being from the Northeast we have overcast Gray most of the winter with some breaks by spring and then again in the fall.
So I appreciate the great Sky's here!
P.S. Its just another thing to be on alert for when driving however, drivers on their
cell phone, changing CD's, Radio Stations, TEXTing, Makeup, shaving, brushing teeth, tying ties, viewing self in rear view mirror and NOW watching the Beautiful Sky's! Be careful folks!!!
Just saw a majestic complete half-circle double rainbow right outside the office window. Had to go out to check it out! The sky and the rainbow was truly indescribable! This was around 5:45pm.
Sorry no pics!
We saw the double rainbow as well and had to stop to watch it. I tried to get a picture on my phone, but alas it was too big! The lower rainbow was so bright and full!
I am just upolading the rainbow pics to my myspace..... we got several, one beautiful arc and at the end over 9th street there was a double. Never saw such a brilliantly colored rainbow!!!!
