Let me clear up some misconceptions you all may have.
When you join up to any ISP provider your electronic communications can be monitored at any time.
I understand that all of us feel that if were paying for a service we should be asured private service. That just isn't the case. When your modem connects to TWC's ubr's or any other ISP'S devices. They can and at times are required to track your internet and email activity. Please don't think you have a right to annonimty, you don't. Chances are if you have a MAC address attached to your account a simple ping trace and reverse lookup is all it takes. If that fails, they will go through an AS400 platform.
To add, most sites use tracking cookies, which could be what you program is identifying. Calling into the customer service is not going to resolve issues with their website. In laymans terms, they use cookies when you login into webmail, etc. Its used to remember who you are as you navigate their pages.
Tracking cookies are used for marketing purposes. Time Warner knows everything about everything you do with you internet connection. They can tell you what type of router you have, if you have one. They can tell you if you computer is connected to that router. They have more methods to follow you then installing something on your computer. That is a far more barbaric method of watching you.
For that matter, electronics have the ability to track you location. Modern cell phones track your location at all times and relay that information back for billing and other purposes.
Thanks!!! You made me laugh out loud for the first time this morning! I'll leave you positive feedback right away!!!!!
