I was in Durham late in the afternoon on Saturday and had the chance to do some quick exploring. Here are a few quick pictures of the exterior of the new Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) and some of the surrounding area. It looks like a great facility and I am looking forward to attending many performances there in the future.

Nice pics. I'm not sure what I think about the architecture of the center; it's very, ummm, glassy. I'm curious to see how it'll fit in with any future infill construction.

I work right nearby. I really wish I had taken "in progress" pictures of the construction. I stopped by during the open house last month - very impressive room. I look forward to catching many shows there as well.

Good thing the high taxes and liberal leadership of Durham have brought us such a nice facility. It's so much better than the dying performing arts centers we have up north that you have to get to and from by walking uphill through five feet of snow and decaying infrastructure.

It is pretty stark during the day, but check it out sometime when it's lit up at night from the inside.
