I was recently quoted over $5000 for installing wood flooring for about 650-700 sq feet. This seems awfully high.

I'd like to bring in one or two more people for a quote. Does anyone have someone they would highly recommend?

I heard Sedaris is the best. We used someone else that were cheaper. I really think we got we paid for and would not recommend them. Feel free to DM me.

It is tough to judge that price not knowing what product you are looking to get installed. The installation price should be fairly uniform no matter what you are getting, but the type and quality of wood can vary in price anywhere from $2 sq/ft to $15 sq/ft. Are these engineered floors or site finished?

I would check out Sedaris.

I do not recommed Carolina Flooring in N. Raleigh. Feel free to DM me for details.

The price quoted was just for installation. Didn't include the flooring.

Get another quote (or two)!

That is outrageous!

I put an ad up on craigslist on Saturday. I've gotten almost 100 responses. Installers are hard up for work. Ask for references, interview them and go from there. But that price is ridiculous just for installing.

That is very high, even if that includes the wood flooring? A good journeyman wood installer can be found for about $2.50 a sq ft. A rule of thumb for quality bruce 3/4 inch true hardwood is about $6.00 a sq ft installed. Pergo, or laminent, runs about 1/2 that much.
