I am trying to find school districts within a one hour commute Raleigh (where I will be taking classes at NCSU). I would be traveling towards Raleigh in the afternoon commute.

Can you please tell me the approximate commuting time from these counties to Raleigh?
  • Duplin County
  • Wayne County
  • Halifax County
  • Cumberland County
I know that these would be rough estimates. Thank you in advance for your help.

Only Wayne county on that list might be commutable in a little over an hour to most of Raleigh depending on your driving style. All the others are about 1.5 hours plus depending on where in the county. To be within an hour commute (less that 1 hour) you'd have to move in closer to Raleigh by one county. i.e. Nash, Franklin, Johnston, Harnett, Lee, Chatham. At least with my experience.

Honey--Halifax Co. is out of the question! 80-90 miles from Raleigh, easily!
We are 80 mi So. of Richmond, VA.
Virginia is closer!
Halifax Co. , NC only has cheap real estate b/c it is the last bastion of the Old South with uneducated illiterates! I know--I've personally tutored black children whose parents don't have GED's. Math and English are important.

This area is not indicative of the rest of NC--Get closer to Wake by one county.

Johnston might be cheaper.
