Well said. I wondeirng the the same thing. To bring this on the local level, who should I direct my outrage at here in Raleigh? Based on Miamiblue's statements I certainly don't feel outraged over what Caterpillar has done. Sounds like they are working with the situation as best they could.
So who should my outrage be directed at?
Does this really need to answered? YOU'RE GOVERMENT! The fleecing of America done on their watch.. Corruption they engaged in and supported. The banks and their executives. Mexico is going to fail as a state. A total collapse of their entire government structure, just annouced on the news. What is the fundamental difference between us and them? Corruption! We are following right behind them. I'm not referring to our new President, but in general.
Your outrage should be directed at your elected officials, congress and why all these seething, law breakers who lead us down this path are allowed to walk free. There is a good start.
So how does this tie in locally? Remind your politicians here not to engage in this crap. So far it seems they have not.
Your response is the exact definition of the root of the problem. People do not care and do not get it. But soon enough, when it is too late, you will. The wolf is in charge of the hen house buddy and you ask what is wrong?

So since this is a local board, I will reserve my outrage for another forum. Since as you so astutely pointed out, the politicians on the local level here in the Triangle have not engaged in this behavior you described above.
Again .... on the local level who should I direct my outrage at?

You can be outraged at me, I'm local, in more ways then one, you know. I'm an easy target. Come on NRG, just get mad, for once. Wear it on your sleave.

Why would I be outraged at you? I certainly don't recall voting for you in any recent local elections and I can't find anything local to get outraged about concerning this mess anyway. I'll save my outrage for something more real.
I still agree with rubber factory, there is plenty of blame to go around so it would be silly to direct your outrage at any one entity. Besides, outrage is good to blow off steam, but I'm more of a roll up your sleeves and get things done type of guy. You can hold your breath and stomp your feet in protest if you like.... but that behavior is just not me.

How about this for local? Bev Perdue manages the state from Raleigh. Raleigh is local. Bev is 100% in favor of getting her hands on this new deal and spending it as fast as she can. So she is part of the problem. Now you have someone local to vent to.
You certainly don't see exec. teams taking paycuts and flattening at the top, do you? Nope. They do RIFs and take from the bottom and a bit at the middle. In sports when the 'team' is not performing they fire the guy in charge...the manager. Here they get rid of the rank 'n file. That tells me that companies are not really committed to anything but keeping the executive pockets lined at all costs and to manage quick expense drops so they can demonstrate movement to their shareholders. No matter that the business itself may not be run well, no matter that an organization may be so top heavy it could be renamed "Dolly Parton Enterprises." Nope...as long as the exec team is getting theirs then everyone else can go pound sand.
I've seen it for 20+ years now and nothin' is gonna change that. Not here in the Triangle, nor anywhere else.
