Try the search function at the top of the page. Or be a lot more specific with what you ask. You're more likely to get a useful reply if you ask a specific question and read all teh info available before you post here.

Make sure you have jobs lined up before burning your bridges behind you.

Don't move here without a job. That's the best advice anyone can give you--our unemployment is creeping up by the month, and there are new stories about large layoffs with each passing week.

If you have jobs lined up and need to know more about the area, there are numerous threads in this forum about various "lifestyle" issues, whether it's apartments, houses, schools, nightlife, etc. Searching for old threads would yield a bounty of info.

I just moved here ... with a job ... not much of one, but a job nonetheless. Been here a week ... I love it ... love the people, atmosphere ... whatever. I like it.

The job market in the Triangle is much stronger than in other areas. There are many, many features which make this area desirable - lots of cultural activities, top museums, top hospitals, 3 hours to the mountains and 2 hours to beach, great trees and rolling hills, the list goes on and on!

But if you can't find a job, it doesn't matter what the rest of the company is doing.

There are more than 34 percent fewer IT (computer) jobs in the Triangle this year compared to last year according to a small news article in the N&O last week, and their source was an RTP company that keeps track of such things.

So the IT people are taking the other jobs that used to be so freely available, such as retail.

It does no good to move to a place with cultural activities, museums, and hospitals, if you have no income. And as I've said before, this is the only place I've heard described as being so great because you can go OUT of town to find something fun (3 hours to the mountains, 2 hours to the beach).
