Try calling the real estate tax office for the county. They will be able to tell you who pays the taxes on the property. Normally, you could search on line but it can be tricky when dealing with a non-street address. Most tax offices are very helpful.

Have you looked at the tax records for the county that the property is in?

I've been to that Herndon Park- just south of Southpoint. I think it's "totally" in Durham County. Chatham et Orange are south and west of this location. my 2cents.

I'll lay money down that it is Duke Power. Google maps shows a huge substation off of scott king, and it appears duke power owns property along scott king rd.

I live in this area. It's Durham County. But I'm not certain if the power lines are city of Durham. Some of the sd divisions in the area are City of Durham and others have not been annexed yet. It's sort of like swiss cheese down here when it comes to the city tax map.

A friend who use to work for Progress said that Progress energy owns the stuff that is South of Scott King Rd (it's that power station looking place). But I'm not certain if the lines that run near the tobacco trail are Progress Energy or not.

It looks like at that exact location to the North of Scott King road is owned by the city of Durham. To the south are a bunch of private plots including a large plot owned by 'JORDAN AT SOUTHPOINTE LLC'. Duke Power does own land over there, but it spread out.

-Duke Power Plots
-City of Durham Plot

Make sure to click on the Map tab at the top of your selected parcel to verify it's location in the city of Durham plot. You are also able to select the 'Identify Map Features' mouse tool once in the map to click on additional plots to see who owns them. Hope this helps.
