Speaking as a Garner (Wake County Side) resident, I will say that the area is improving. I also wouldn't say it is a place to avoid. What I like about Garner is the easy accessibility to downtown Raleigh, the "small blue collar town" vibe that is pretty diverse, and a feeling of community that I enjoy.

I do not have kids, and I don't ever plan to so I can not speak to the school system.

The 10 mile radius around the plant only includes Apex, Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina.

I can offer a glowing review of the Holly Springs, Cary, Apex, Fuquay area, even if it's close to the plant.

What do you think of the Brier Creek area for that?

So, the job may be in RTP or RDU area, or NW Raleigh?

Rather than areas to avoid, you might think in terms of micro-location.
Not backing up to a busy road or highway, electric transmission lines, undeveloped land with clear development potential, a landfill, sewer plant, commercial development, or flood plain.

I plan to move to Raleigh next year 2018 end of summer. Are there any updates about the locations as of 2017? Has any areas developed in a positive light? I have one middle schooler and one high schooler which schools and areas are best to live?
