As far as I know, that's your lot.
I have not dealt with Verizon as we have everything through tw. They're OK, I suppose, until you need something done!

Verizon is the best hands down. Excellent service, almost no hold time on the phone, and prompt addressing of problems. You're fortunate to live in Durham where you have a choice. Do a search of this forum and you'll find MANY complaints about TWC. Many people are literally held hostage by TWC due to lack of viable competition.

That is it for the mainstream providers. After having them both, I think that Verizon is a better value than TWC.

Another option for broadband is Clearwire wireless broadband.
Of course phone service can be had through all the national VOIP and cell companies.

Sounds about right, unfortunately. We pay about the same for TWC VOIP including calls to England, which is the main reason we stick with them, and road runner is faster.

You get what you pay for. I'll take $45 and absolutely NO 'internet going out' periodically any day. I also have DSL so I'm stuck with their landline. Cable internet is faster, but in this area, it is more unreliable as per the claims of many people I know both online and off.

I think that depends on where you are. We have NEVER had an outage of our road runner in the 2+ years we have lived in our house in Durham. Probably depends on overhead vs. underground cables. Our old house in Florida had overhead cables and the service was always going out.
I think there are may people happy with TWC service, while granted it could be better. It's just people only talk about these things when there are problems which appears to bias things somewhat.
