I guess they'd rather make $0 from me now, and in the future. I could always sit down, order water and my meals, and then as soon as it arrives ask for a doggy bag - but that's just plain stupid. They just lost a customer - and people wonder why restaurants fail.
Yeah, that is dumb. I almost always order water at a sit down meal anyway, are they gonna give me the "stinkeye" now??

I'll still visit but H20 will be on the table. They'll probably start charging customers .49 per glass.

That is kins of dumb. Were they unusually busy? Little Tokyo up the street from me routinely tells me "no take out" when they are busy.

No, it was about 1:30 pm, and the place was one-quarter to one-third full. It's just their policy. "No take-out on lunch specials". I went in and asked if I could order food to go and the waiter handed me a menu. When I didn't see the lunch specials (that I had seen online) I asked about them. The hostess/owner (?) led me to a table where they had the specials menu in a plastic holder, then told me that they don't allow specials for take-out. She didn't seem overly concerned when I said "Thank you" and left.

That does seem strange - on the other hand $3.50 is really cheap for lunch. Tangerine Cafe has lunch specials in the $4.95 to $7.95 range, and I've had no problem getting them to go. Sounds like Tom Yum needs to put "Dine In Only" on their website/menu.

I had my dinner at Tom Yum, Cary, last Friday. A lip print on the cup made me wonder how they clean their dishes?
