I am relocating to the Raleigh in Aug.09, from NYC, with my husband and 3 children under the age of 6. I am looking for a real estate agent who is familiar with the areas and who is really going to stay on top of things. Someone who is going to stear us in the right direction and no BS. We need someone with honest opinions. We will be in next week sun-wed. Our price range is 300,000. We want good schools, a park, and some things within walking distance.
I relocated from Michigan and LOVED our agent...she was so helpful and took the time to show us around the area as well as housing. She even went so far as to pick us up at the airport and from our hotel.
Just a warning, you're going to have to do some of the legwork yourself, preferably before you pick your real estate agent. They are not allowed to recommend any school or school district. And schools are done differently down here. Instead of doing it by town, it is done by county. And you might want to take some time to research on here about Wake County schools and redistricting. Once you have determined which areas you want to look in, then find an agent or agents familiar with that particular area. Good luck! We had to come down from NJ about 5 times before we found our perfect home. And I logged a ton of hours researching schools, builders, etc. This forum is a fantastic resource. Just be sure to take the time to search and read, as many of your questions/concerns have probably been covered in the past.
