My daughter lives in North Raleigh and she recently switched from Alltel to Verizon. She seems to like it. There aren't many choices where I live. Of course there is US cellular and Bell South I believe. Do they have Vontage up there anyone?
I have suncom and Ii don't know about everywhere, but in Apex it loses it's signal quite often, It's a samsung phone, and it can have 5 bars in one area of my house even, and then no signal in others.
Our family uses Verizon, and loves it. I hardly ever drop a call. I have a son who attends NC State in Raleigh, and his cell phone was the only phone that I called, never even knew the dorm number.
Now that pesty phone doesn't seem to work in the frat house.....lol......
I have a motorola phone, about a year old, and hardly ever have problems with my Suncom service. I did have a problem with Cingular dropping my calls but one of the workers told me that no matter what...I must turn off my phone for at least a minute every day. Now I don't know what this does...but I hardly have a dropped call at all now. Vicki

I have Nextel and I was told to do the same thing....turn off my phone at least once a day. Supposedly it resets any problems that may have occurred. Think of it this way. Sometimes, for whatever crazy reason, I lose my network connection to my network printer at work. In order to reset the connection, I would have to reboot my pc. This is pretty much the same thing...kind of does a refresh.
I think I'm going to go with Verizon, my family in NY uses them already & then
we will be able to call each other for free.
