Does anyone know of any places that dogs are allowed to go within a couple hours of a drive such as beaches, parks, etc. My parents are coming into town this weekend. I would like to take them to different places, but I cannot leave my dog at home all day. Thanks in advance!

I used to live in Virginia Beach, dogs were allowed up there on the beaches, can't remember the specific ones though.

Most parks and such allow leashed dogs - are you looking for off leash areas?

Here's some beach info:

Fort Fisher is a great beach for dogs. Its just south of Wilmington. We just walk down past where the lifeguards are and set up shop. If you go far enough, you can probably let your dogs off the leash as long as lifguards do not come by.
