Does anyone know where I could get some free (or relatively cheap) wine corks in the Triangle?

I am trying to finish my wine closet and I thought that I had saved up enough (about 8 years worth between family and friends) but I guess they do not go as far as I thought.

I used to work at a place called Nomacorc out in Zebulon (they make synthetic wine corks), so you may contact them and see if they "rejects" they could give/sell you. Also try some restaurants around town. I know when we went to eat at Tosca, they kept the wine cork, so maybe they could give you the leftovers people didn't take.

The Scrap Exchange in Durham had a 30 gallon barrel full of them the last time I was there (~1 month ago). Don't recall the price, but I'm sure you could work something out.

How about calling Daniel's restaurant in Apex - all of their tables are covered with corks with glass set over the top. Ask them where they got all of theirs....

I was going to suggest scrap exchange--that's where take all our corks...

I'd talk to restaurants and ask them if they'd save them for you. Fleming's would be a great place, as they serve 100 wines by the glass. BTW, when is the tasting? I'll bring something good

I went there this afternoon... The corks were $0.10 per cork. Not too bad.

Thanks for all of you help!

How big is the "closet". I have beed saving up to make a 12" X 12" cork board so I can't imagine how many it would take to make a closet!
