There are a lot of PM jobs here depending on your area of expertise. Can you be more specific in Projects you are looking for? Java, Healthcare, sales, Wireless etc.

I'm also in the PM field......primarily windows-based software development & hardware integration (servers, networking, wireless hand-helds) type work. I'm planning to relocate to Raleigh in the summer. I've done a fair amount of research of companies in RTP, but any suggestions on who's hiring and/or, rather...., what sort of hiring process they use (headhunters only, no headhunters, direct placement, lots of contractors, etc.) would be appreciated. Every company seems to have its own way of doing things.....

Thanks for your response! I am currently managing projects in the Employee Services (HRMS, time reporting, benefits, health & welfare, retirement, 401K) and Asset Management (travel, fleet, cell phones) service areas. I am relatively new to these areas, but am enjoying the work. I have had high-level technical exposure (such as managing projects w/technical components), but I am not versed in specific software.
Previous experience includes sales support PM work, new client implementations, bill production, remittance processing... I have a strong PM background and I am quick to pick up the functional aspect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am very anxious to move!!!

PM positions
I am a project manager in the pharmaceutical/biotech field have had a few interviews but with the large companies it takes forever. I finally got hooked up with a good recruiter who knows the industry and has some very good contacts but it is still very frustrating.

I am a PM and work for IBM, who has a lot of PMs in the Triangle (as well as everywhere else). I would definitely include IBM on your search list. ( Jobs at IBM - Search openings (http://www-03.ibm.com/employment/us/fi_search.shtml - broken link) )
If you are not PMI certified, then you should definitely get that done as many PM jobs require it. IBM has its own certification program, but PMI is an input to it.

I am considering getting my CAPM certification and eventually get my PMP certification once I have the work experience to qualify. Does anyone have a suggestion on what the best method for doing this is? The best place to get online training, how easy/hard it is to get into the market place without a college degree and no prior work experience? I appreciate any advice I can get...Good or Bad! Thank you

Project Management is a difficult field to just jump into without other experience in the field you'll be managing. It would be like starting as a General Contractor for home construction without ever having held a job in construction, carpentry, or some other trade related to building a home. In the IT field, most Project Managers worked for a number of years as a programmer, IT specialist, or some other job related to technology... then over the course of many years advance to team leader, then eventually project manager. It is probably not impossible to just start out as a project manager with no other experience, but without education or experience I find it pretty hard to believe that someone would entrust you with running a project. That is probably not what you wanted to hear, but that is the way I see it. The reality is that part of the reason you have a project manager is that you want some one who has the training and experience to run the project, thus reducing the overall risk and helping the project to be completed on time and within budget. I don't know how you could do that without experience and training.
Have you ever watched those "Flip This House" shows? My favorite is actually Property Ladder. Most of the time people jump into doing a house and have no idea what they are doing, and lack the experience to not get into trouble with contractors, budgets, risks, etc. An experienced Flipper would no about this stuff and avoid the potholes. The big difference here is that on those shows, they people are usually putting their own money on the line. I doubt someone would have hired them to do a house with their money, although I'm sure it happens on rare occaision.
