The building has such character, but the restaurant was always closed when we tried to go there on weekends...not waking up early enough, I guess.

Finally made it and so glad we did! The fried chicken is so good!! Not greasy like what I feel fast food fried chicken usually is. And the biscuits...so light and tasty! I usually don't eat biscuits because I find them to be boring and heavy.

We get the 8 piece chicken and it comes with biscuits. We have enough for two meals for the two of us and my hubby has biscuits to eat for breakfast with coffee for several mornings. Four dinners and a couple breakfasts...all for under $12!

They are now open at night so I can pick up dinner on the way home from work. I'm sharing this info for selfish reasons...I want others to go there and love it so the restaurant continues to stay open at night!

I did try one piece of bbq chicken and I only recommend the fried chicken. Their version of bbq is kinda like chicken cacciatore. Not bad, but when you're expecting bbq, well...not good.

Tacos Mexico is pretty good. After living in San Diego and LA, I'm spoiled with knowing great Mexican though.

There's a $25 gift certificate for sale at restaurant.com for $10. The coupon is valid with a minimum purchase of $50 and it excludes alcohol. This is doable with 4 people. We went with 4 adults, each ordering an entree and drinking pop or tea.

We are still in search of a fantastic Mexican joint...

Thanks! I've driven by there a lot (we like Skipper's next door), but it always seemed closed. Do you know the actual hours/days that they are open? I'm in SW Raleigh, so don't want to waste a drive.

I travel a lot on US 1 for work. This place is awesome! Forget going to Bojangles, Chick Fil A, etc.

Support this place! Right off 55 and US 1

Update: Just saw this restaurant profiled in a political story on ABC's Nightline. Looks like great food and fried chicken. But even more interesting, the layout of the building looks like an old Roy Rogers Restaurant from the 1960's or 70's. The western decor and outside fascade looks just like one of those original Roy Rogers from the Marriott days. Can anyone confirm this? I know there used to be a Roy Rogers in Greensboro, but I believe Raleigh also had some locations as well.

Roy Rogers is now expanding again in Virginia, Maryland, and New Jersey after a failed Hardee's merger. And possibly NC could be under consideration. Would be nice to see them return with the excellent roast beef, as well as burgers and fried chicken. But meanwhile, looks like it would be great to check out Dallas Famous Chicken and Biscuits in Apex.

Dallas was a Popeye's I believe and Skippers was a Hardee's.
