I looked in the Carolina Parent guide of summer camps, and the only summer camp listed for Johnston county was the Johnston CountyYMCA. Are there any others? Do kids just tend to stay at home or go to a local pool? Beside neighboring Wake county, are there other places to check out-for day camps for a 9-yr old girl. Thanks!

Here is a link to a camp in Clayton. I have no idea what this camp is about, but I heard this was a nice community. Summer Camp - Clayton, North Carolina Real Estate (http://flowersplantation.com/amenities/summer_camp.php - broken link)

I didn't even know about the Flowers Plantation camp and I live right near there.

Here are a few more in Clayton;

Riverwood: http://www.riverwoodtoday.com/pdf/cb08.pdf (broken link)

Kids Clubhouse: Kid's Clubhouse : Summer Camp : Field Trips : Clayton : Garner : 4042 : Cleveland (http://www.kids-clubhouse.us/summer_camp.shtml - broken link)

Interskate: InterSKATE - Summer Camps (http://thegreatadventurecamp.com/camp.html - broken link)

We've done Riverwood. It was good, kids loved it. Swimming at Riverwood daily. The interskate camp looks REALLY good.

That's all I can think of at the moment but I'm sure there are a couple more.
Lauren
PS...there's also screaming mimis in a pinch. I had to use them last summer but it was a bit boring for the kids since its all indoors although they've just announced that is changing or they are adding trips or something.

I have a buddy that sends his kids to Riverwood. Said it was wonderful and the price point was fair. We just live too far for the option.

Our daughter attended Cleveland Child Care and we were pleased. They have field trips several times a week. I think it was around $125 a week and included meals. It is located on the south side of the 40/42 intersection.

I just got an email from screaming mimis that they have just added a summer camp with field trips so that's another place now.

Screamin' Mimi's Kid's Place - 2009

They haven't put anything about it up on their site yet but it should be there soon.

Thanks for all the replies! Does anyone know if Riverwood has middle school aged campers? Their flyer says "Day Camp" but not the age range (and "Tot Camp"). Has anyone tried Morgan's Gymnastics summer camp, the Cleveland Road facility? I've heard it's popular, and my daughter takes a class there which she really likes. ty!

Does anybody know of a summer camp that will employ 13 year olds as a "Junior Counselor" or something in common?
