Does anybody have any current information on or opinions about Hopewell Academy's high school program? We are strongly considering moving my duaghter there (a mid-year transfer). She was an A/B student in middle school. She started off OK in high school (3.4 GPA). However, her recent progress report is a disaster, and her attitide towards school is very bad. She does not want to transfer to Hopewell because she perceives it as a school for "kids with social issues". She is a pretty social kid, so moving from a public high school to a very small private one will be an adjustment. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Hello! I too am in your same situation. Our son is in middle school, fine socially, lots of friends, academically struggling. He would be crushed if I were to put him in a school with a student population of severe LD, social problem kids.
I have some info. for you from a previous teacher at Hopewell who privately replied to me.
If you want I can forward it onto you but I would rather do it through my private email as she would prefer not to have her opinions publically posted. If you are interested you can email me at

Have you thought about The Hill Center in Durham? I have several friends who have used them and have wonderful things to say. We are a bit far from there and my son's school is on a year round calendar so half days at The Hill Center will not work for us. They are expensive but I have never heard anything negative about them and have 2 good friends experiences to rely on.
I am looking at the Trilogy School right now but am concerned that the student population will be a negative for our son socially. Best of luck to you and email me if you want the additional info.
