That seems really late. I have always put mine down in the latter part of February (with good results).

You both might be right. The reading I did said 1/2 in Feb and the remainder in March.

Remember this year has been much colder than normal. While in years past March might have been too late, we did get some dustings of snow in early March.

I try to time my treatments with when things bloom as I figure that synchs better with any climate adjustments. I usually apply pre-emerge when the first forsythias bloom.

Valentine's Day 2011 is a week away and it still feels like winter (about an hour out of Raleigh - northeast). Would the thought be to wait on applying a pre-emergent???

Nope - I wouldn't wait; I'd get the pre-emergent herbicide down sometime in the latter half of February. Good time to put down an early fertilizer too, so I use something like Scotts Turf Builder Plus Halts.

Hey everyone, good thread. Does anyone know if the crabgrass pre-emergent can be used on a bermuda lawn?

Pre-emergent can be used on anything that you do not want new vegetation to grow.

I've been taking a more extreme approach to winter weeds the last few years. Since the bermuda is dormant, I just spray Roundup over the entire yard. It doesn't work as a pre-emergent, per se, but I'm hoping to kill the weeds before they go to seed, which will help the following year. I'll let you know if it works.

I usually put out pre-emergent the middle of February. Without it usually spells major problems with crabgrass. I was planning on doing a heavy reseeding of Sahara bermuda seed this May. I guess I run into the risk of the pre-emergent keeping my bermuda seed form germinating Anybody dealt with this?
