Here's the problem. Apex is a middle/upper middle class family town. People who live in Apex generally are families who are looking for good schools (which all of them IN Apex are, unfortunately not everyone in the town goes to school there anymore) and a nice long-range stay single family home (upper 200's-low 400's). Not estate/luxury $600k+ houses, and not really $300k+ townhomes.
I believe they were asking in the range of $279K - certainly too much that particular development. Although the concept was good, it never took off. I also believe they only sold ONE unit!!
Citiside is not the only place having issues in Apex. I can't remember the names now, but I drove down Laura Duncan road into Apex and there were some patio homes in Apex that look abandoned and some townhomes past that and they were abandoned. Is this bad planning in Apex? Is it the same builder gone belly up? Is it a bad location deal? What gives? Why so many in one town compared to others?

Yeah, it looks like one unit sold for $255K in June of 2007 per the county tax website. For some reason I thought the townhouses were over $300K, but I may have been thinking of L'Hermitage (where just two single family homes sold, and no townhouses). The development just seems really out of place - if people want a more urban/city lifestyle, why would they want to live in a field in Apex? I know eventually there was supposed to be a shopping center there, but still..
I *liked* Citiside. I liked the main model that had a large master upstairs with a sitting area, loft, and balcony-- however that balcony faced right out into the road which is a negative.
I also though the living room area downstairs was very narrow and small.
Of course-- a townhome in that price range was out of my price range-- although I would definitely take one if it were 180k *lol*
Even if they were "only" $279k. You could probably get a decent single family home with more room and a yard across the street in Walden Creek for that price. And again, that's what most people who would choose to live in Apex are looking for. Poor decision on the builder's part for not really considering the type of community that they were building in. The town should have considered this before approving it as well.
The auction of the Citiside Townhomes in Apex was scheduled for the end of April - does anyone have information on how the auction went? I drove past there earlier today and saw no sign of any activity and the auction sign is still hanging so I wondered if the event was a failure, or if all the Towns were sold
The auction will end June 23rd. There are flyers outside or you can visit The AuctionFirst website.
According to the flyer, reserve is set between $168 and $193.

Wow-those strike me as a huge mistake at any price. They look like the OK Corral from the back, and if that side of 64 develops (and I would doubt that highly at least over the next 5-7 years) then you have an ugly townhome in the middle of a strip mall.
Zero redeeming qualities.

I don't think I would buy one at $75,000, except maybe to rent out and that would be a big maybe. I would never live there.
