Hello! Now that we are closer to our actual move and are house hunting, we have been gravitating towards the more planned communities which offer greenways, community club house, and pools, ect., mostly for our kids. We are trying to locate all those subdivisions that fit into this catagory.
So far we have really liked Scotts Mill in Apex, Holly Glen and Windward Pointe in Holly Springs, the area around Bond Lake, Cary, and just recently found about that new Amberly subdivision in North Cary. Generally prefer those communities that don't have the national builders coming in just plowing down all the trees and plopping a bunch of similar homes on them.
Prefer the more custom home look where each home on the blocks looks a bit different. Already know about the Villages of Apex new community as well. Love the awesome community center and pool of Amberly, not sure if their are any detached homes though in a "greener" area that we can afford [our max is $250K], since we like that cul-de-sac backing onto a forest buffer style area.
So any other communties out their that offer cool planned communities with awesome pools and community centers for our family and kids to enjoy? Let me know! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Scotts Mill has some of the most unique and beautiful houses in Apex, it's also huge. A little off the beaten path though (doesn't directly connect to Olive Chapel Road or Highways 55 or 64 like most other Apex subdivisions do); but still nice. The lot sizes were a little small for our taste and the fact that it seemed like way too many houses only had one car garages which I really found odd (there were some with 2 car garages though).
Well, I agree that Windward Pointe isn't that nice, but I disagree that the only nice neighborhood in Holly Springs is Sunset Ridge. Of course anything that averages $500,000 is nice. But there are plenty of other neighborhoods in the area that are nice and more affordable. Holly Glen isn't bad. There are different builders, so certain parts of the neighborhood are better than others. Holly Pointe is a very nice neighborhood. May be just outside your price range, but you may find a good deal as it's been a slow sell out there from what I can see. Sunset Oaks is also nice as is The Park at Westlake (Apex/Holly Springs line).
