Remember when Raleigh repaved Peace Street between Glenwood Ave and Cameron Village and re-painted the lane markings to make it a three lane road (including the left-turn center lane) rather than the previous four-lane configuration? Do you think it is better or worse than before? I think it's so much better.

Here are some other locations in Wake County where I think it would be great to go from four lanes to two lanes with a left-turn center lane.

- Wake Forest Road between Mordecai Drive and Brookside Drive
- Millbrook Road between Six Forks Rd and Falls of Neuse Road
- Walnut Street between Tanglewood Drive and Kildaire Farm Road
- Kildaire Farm Road between Maynard Road and Walnut Street

It seems like this would be a good idea for these locations because (A) the adjacent property is developed with single family houses (and who wants to live on a four-lane road?...as an added bonus, the project might positively affect the adjacent property value) and (B) there's not a lot of traffic anyway so not having two lanes in each direction wouldn't cause congestion.

Of course there is the talk of also doing this type of thing on Hillsborough Street but that's kind of a different animal because it that involves streetscaping, roundabouts, NC State is right there, etc. What I'm talking about for the above locations is simply resurfacing the road and repainting it with fewer lanes.

I think its better. Charlotte did this with Colony Rd and its so much nicer to look at, plus there are quality bike lanes now.
