Hello,

I am interested in knowing if Cary has a noise ordinance for things like excessive dog barking, teens tearing up and down streets in noisy cars, and neighbors blasting stereos, etc.... or if many of you in neighborhoods with an HOA have rules that keep these things in check. (And if so, are the rules actually abided by?)

thanks

I'm in Cary but we don't have a HOA since it's an older neighborhood. However, Cary does have a noise ordinance (basically between 11pm and 7am) and if there's a problem you can call the non-emergency police number and they'll send someone out to check into it. I had to do this before when someone's dog was barking all night. They do follow through.

Cary does have noise ordinances that include things like barking dogs (I've not had any problems with teens "tearing up and down streets"), but enfocement in non HOA areas really depends on whether or not someone picks up the phone and complains.

In my limited experience with the Cary police, they've always been very responsive and professional.

I think that noise ordinance violations would be enforced by the police, not by the HOA. I just took a look at the covenants for my neighborhood, and noise isn't even mentioned. If I was going to complain about my neighbor's constantly barking dogs (*sigh*) I'd call the police non-emergency number.

Cary brought a new town web site "live" this year, and most old links do not work.
Try this (although I do not know exactly which page):
http://www.amlegal.com/pdffiles/Cary_pdf/code_CH22.pdf

Full file of Town Ordinances:

Why do people leave their dogs out to bark incessantly. I can't believe how inconsiderate they can be. I want the laws to be stronger!!!!!!!
