What a wonderful story originating from the great Cary resident Bob Matthews.

"That Cary resident and retired Enloe High teacher Bob Matthews and friends Bill Dixon and Joe Harsch could swap stories on a recent afternoon about their days fighting an unpopular war was a reality the veteran soldiers acknowledged might not have happened when they returned from Vietnam. Those postwar lessons are ones the trio has since determined they won’t allow their fellow Americans — or themselves — to forget. This fall, they will embark on what will be a second excursion to the third-world country for Matthews, who in 2003 led a group of teachers to Vietnam to give eyes to their international curriculum. This trip, however, will be about lending hands."
