Where can I go to sell some old watches? I have a few gold watches that belonged to my dad. I also have some silver dollars - 1960s timeframe. Lastly, an old crystal chandelier. I've given up on the chandelier. It's an early 50s one that belonged to my parents, and I've had it packed in styrofoam for years and years. Crystals have fallen off and need to be reattached. I've tried posting it on Craig's List, have talked with some store in Durham - "Now and Again" or something like that - anyway, it's on 15-501 (they didn't have room to hang it at the time and would only sell it for around $100-$125). Also tried another place in Brightleaf. No one wants it, and I live in an apt. and don't want it. Any other suggestions? Maybe even my baby grand piano (Fischer, 1950s) in time, but not sure about that yet.
I've been shopping for a vintage crystal chandelier - but it has to be a certain kind to fit in our living room which is very small. I'm looking for one that we can hang almost flush with the ceiling and isn't more than a foot high. Petite dome chandelier is my search term on ebay and Craig's list. From what I've seen, $100-125 is about right for a small one needing repair. There is a refurbished one on ebay I really want but it's $399 - I can only afford half that! Anyway, ebay might be the way to go for the small stuff. You can look up similar items to see what they are going for. As for the baby grand, ebay or craig's list, just specify pickup only. Good pictures (and a lot of them) are really important when selling online.
If your chandelier is what I've described above, let me know and I might buy it
Good luck!
I bought one vintage crystal chandelier at Habitat for Humanity Reuse Store in Raleigh for $5 last year, and the other one I bought via Craigslist in Chapel Hill for $10 this year.
They are most likely pre-1940, are traditional, and I'm shocked I was able to find them at those prices. I guess people don't value them, even though they're all over the designer magazines -- even in kitchens and bedrooms. I love them.
