I started a thread here since I was planning a yard sale but had been warned about stealing.

There was one instance of some people tearing tags off, but other than that, no stealing, scamming, or anything weird that I know of . .

We did really well, at one point there were 20 cars or so in our cul de sac. I had some specialty items so I had advertised to the people interested in those things, then I had baby clothes and regular yard sale items. So, some people came for items that I had advertised on line, and others came probably due to seeing the big signs my husband put up on a main road.

It went great and we are happy with how we did. We donated the leftovers right after and I just have a few small items to deal with. I put a lot of effort into preparation -- I had individually tagged each items with the tags that come on a little string. I saftely pinned those to all the clothes and all the clothes were hanging on makeshift display (broomsticks across tables). I also priced very low so there was very little haggling. People were happy with what they got.

I would love to do it again but by next year we certainly wouldn't have the quantity or quality of stuff we had this year, so it will be a while. Definitely a lot of work. All the people were very pleasant. Having the stuff marked helped because there were people who didn't speak too much English and not just Spanish-speakers. I did have all the signs in English and Spanish, though.
