Purchasing a used motorcylce (insurance, purchase, DMV)

Hello,

I was wondering can someone help me out. I am planning on purchasing a used motorcycle from a private seller. He's has the title on hand. I was wondering what will be the extra fees beside the price i pay for the bike.

I understand i will need to pay for plate, registration, and i guess 3% to some highway usage tax. Contact my insurance company..

Is there state tax? What else am i forgetting

here's a link that shows the step-by-step process of registering a car in NC. the same rules apply for a motorcycle. it's a bit of work, but if you follow this to the letter you should have no problems:

there is no tax aside from this, although you will have the annual property tax. the bill for that won't come until later, though, if i remember correctly.

do you have a Motorcycle endorsement on your license? i'm not sure, but they MAY require it.

thanks for the quick response and the links. yes, i do have a motorcylce endorsement. so now i have a good idea of the extra cost's that i need in hand to purchase this bike.
