Hello, I am relocating to the Triangle area from Pittsburgh in May and was wondering if any fellow residents could help me with acquiring local resources. I will be working with mostly adults ages 50+ and their families. I am specifically looking for NC procedure for Medicaid/Medicare applications, transportation for people with disabilities (in Pittsburgh it was called ACCESS), meals on wheels, food stamps, respite agencies, homehealth/nursing agencies, etc. Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for taking your time to read my post

You did not mention what county you were relocating to in the Triangle but I would check out www.wakegov.com . It offers a lot of information and contact points for Human Services in Wake county. I would also recommend contacting the local United Way of Wake, Orange or Durham county depending on what location/towns you choose. They should be able to point you in the right direction as they provide the local Call 211.
I work in mental health - moved several years ago from Durham to central PA. You might want to check with people in the social work departments at Duke University or UNC-Chapel Hill for starters. By the way, where will you be working? I still own a townhome close to several hospitals, healthcare offices, etc and would be willing to sell (decided last week to stay in PA for good but haven't put NC home on market yet).
I know it PA they have different medicaid plans. Private through Unison, Gateway, UPMC etc. Then there are some people with the plain PA Access or Access Plus plans. In NC Medicaid is just NC Medicaid.
You do a great service! Your help would be much appreciated. Sorry I am not of much guidance though.
