This is what the lawn looked like in 2006 when we bought the house.

This is what it looks like today (2009)

Our grass is growing like gangbusters (have mowed three times this season). Of course the grass looks even better right over top of our septic's drainfield ;o) Seriously, our 3 1/2 acres of grass are super-hearty this time of year- and generally don't lose luster even during the steamy summer months. We're on former tobacco farm land, so whatever kind of grass took root here after the farms went fallow is just amazingly hearty stuff. Don't fertilize, don't water, and in spite of that, the grass looks great all season long.

My grass is crazy tall. I mowed the front yday and the back today. Our ground is so lumpy. What is the best way to even it out? Fill in with topsoil and seed in the fall?

Nice lawn NRG, I wish I could say mine looks as good. At least most of the weeds are now dead and it's coming in thicker due to the fertilizer I put down. I really need to overseed in the fall.

Dramatic difference though in 3 years.
