I'm so glad the OP posted this.... When it happened to me at the Clayton Wal-Mart, everyone I told acted like I was crazy. It didn't matter whether I was touching the plastic or the metal, and it would happen constantly. It was strong enough that I would involuntarily let out a yelp each time! So embarassing!
I did discover something interesting though... The shoes I had on seemed to be the determining factor. I don't remember now what shoes I was wearing/not wearing. This was happening last year when I was living in Clayton. I think I've only stepped into a Wal-Mart once or twice since then.
Do all of the carts - Clayton, Brier Creek, etc - have that weird metallic, speckled paint on the handle? Could that be it? I get a shock no matter what shoes I am wearing, or what the weather is outside (humidity).

It happens to me sometimes too. I'm in Orlando. It must be the Walmart carts?
Oh my goodness...yes this happens to me too...I thought I was going crazy... and only at the Brier Creek location
