I'm looking for a new hair stylist that isn't too outrageously priced. Basically I get highlights about 3 times per year and just cuts. That's it. I do like to get more than one color in the high/low lights to make it look more natural. But what I'd really like along with the hair skills is some personality. I've gone to the same person now for about a year or longer and she still shows no sign of recognizing who I am or anything about me. It's like we're meeting for the first time every time I go. Any ideas?

Salon One21 in downtown Wake Forest. Ask for Amanda, but every stylist there seems to do a wonderful job. Believe me, they will remember you!
I'm glad to hear that recommendation, Zoya - I've been in NC for 20 months, and STILL haven't found a hair person I like- I've been getting it cut on visits back home! Now living in WF, I've thought about Salon One21 - will have to give them a call!
It took me awhile to find a hair stylist in NC too. Then I tried Salon Blu in Raleigh off of Falls of Neuse. I go to both Casey and Alison and found them to be very good (I get highlights, lowlights and cut). They are pricey but since I only go 2-3 times per year I don't mind paying the extra price for getting highlights and cuts I actually like. I'm sure you all know that there is nothing worse then walking out of a salon hating your new hair whether you paid $50 or $150!
Thanks, NRaleigh Mom! My students have recommended Salon Blu, as well, as I work in N. Raleigh. I don't mind spending - I spent about $160 on a cut/highlights w/ my stylist back in MI, that's the range I was expecting, and as you said, it's worth it for something that's only a few times a year.
