For Raleigh area (pref northern)? Really I care less about that than they likely would as I'm asking them to come to the house and fix/re-key some locks.......thx

I think Home Depot will re-key them if you're willing to take the locks off yourself.

Otherwise, here are two locksmith companies in the Raleigh area.

Busse's Lock Service

Marshall's Locksmith Service Inc

I've used AllSafe Lock & Key to re-key the locks on my past two houses & they have been great.

Marshall's on Poole Rd. Award-winning and professional. My company uses them exclusively. I have personally not needed a locksmith, but I deal with them through my employer and think they are fine.

I am a locksmith. We're not in Raleigh, so I'm not going to reccomend our company.... lol. Seriously though, our company has had no complaints with either Busse or Marshall's. Both are good, professional companies. Both have established businesses and have good reccomendations. Either would be able to do agood job for you.

I do want to give you some advice though. Whatever comany you choose, make sure you do your homework. It is probably best to find someone with a "real" shop, instead of just a van to work out of. I am not saying that one man operations aren't good, but they aren't always as established as some places that have a storefront, nor can you just walk in when you have a problem.

Be aware there is a con running in the locksmith industry. (see WRAL's story... about a week or two ago) Some "companies" put up these flashy ads online and in the phonebook. Watch the stroy to see what happens when you have them out. The comapny I work for has worked behind these scam artists. It make us mad that anyone would be so callus.

Another thing.... the big box stores (like the one mentioned in a previous post) normally do not have licensed locksmiths on site. They cannot legally charge for locksmith services (like rekeying) without a license. Any of the licensed locksmith companies with a shop will rekey locks that are brought in. This will save you the service fee.

I've known the owner of this company for 25 years. He's done work for me both on commercial projects and my homes.

Raleigh Locksmith ~ Raleigh, North Carolina

The owner is Ed Walters. He's fast, reasonable, and his work is excellent. Tell him Jule referred you to him.
