Wife and I are newly retired and look foward to living in Cary. We plan visit to the area soon to scout for a two bedroom apartment. Hoping to find a well managed, nicely landscaped community. (Not sure if Apartment Ratings is reliable.) Any suggestions or insights will be appreciated.

Folks I have talked to have enjoyed living at Weston Lakeside.

I lived in Brook Arbor (off HWY 55) for 2 years. I liked it overall. It's more convenient to Morrisville and Apex.

Carpenter Village apartments. Very nice and well kept. In the middle of a really nice subdivision. Within walking distance of a library and greenway. Nice pond area. Pool. More residential feeling than apartment feeling due to being in the middle of a subdivision. Near all restaurants, etc. Near Green Hope High.

I am currently at the Lodge at Crossroads and have been very happy here.

Many complexes offer a "referral bonus" up to a couple hundred bucks if you were referred by a current resident and sign a new lease. Once you do find a place you like, if you find a current resident who is nice enough they may split the bonus with you.

Looked at this place, it looks awesome. Decided to move downtown instead, but this was definitely our #1 choice if we were to stay in the burbs.

We just rented at Tradition at Stonewater. I have only seen it for 1 day and night, though, when we moved some stuff there on a quick trip, so I really don't know about it yet. It is new and seems okay for our temporary apt. needs. The staff was nice and helpful, esp. considering I was having to do all this long distance, over the phone and internet. It has a nice pool, theater room, workout room, community room. Nothing else in the area, though. Has new buildings being completed and seems to have several vacancies with more coming.
