I have 2 large trees that I'm about to cut down. I know I can take the branches less than 4" to cary's yard waste dump but how can I get rid of the larger branches and trunks? Thanks!

A word from someone who has been there. unless you are experienced arborist or have acres and don't care where the tree falls, leave it to the professionals. they will do it correctly, grind up the branches and you will have lots of mulch for other places in your yard. expensive I know but worth it.

There's a dump on Gresham Lake Rd. between Capital Blvd and Atlantic that takes this kind of yard debris. When we do a lot of trimming we load up the truck instead of bundling it for the City of Raleigh to take for free on yard waste pick up day.

I had some trees taken done a few weeks ago. I posted an ad on craigslist saying that I had free firewood, come and get it. It was gone in an hour!  |

Currin Brothers Landfill (919-362-1549) on Sunset Lake Road in Holly Springs and C & D Landfill (919-367-2895) on Hwy 55 By-Pass in Holly Springs both will accept tree branches, logs, and stumps.
If you have hardwoods and can cut it into firewood lengths, the Boy Scout troop at my church will pick it up and donate it to needy folks who heat with wood. Please DM me for the name of the Scoutmaster and his phone number.

you can always cut the trees into firewood sized pieces and post it on craigslist under free
we had about 20 trees and had a logger come in and take most of them for free.....he cuts them into the sizes he wants and drags them off and sells the wood off......what was left over we cut down and posted on craigslist and had 3 people show up and one guy made 4 trips back and forth and hauled it away to use for firewood next season....
so it didnt cost us a thing.....

I agree. Just post you have firewood that someone can cut up and haul away and you will probably have a lot of people interested. If not then call someone that advertises they sell firewood and see if they are interested.
You are doing the hard work for them by cutting the tree down and not killing yourself or destroying something. |
