Hi everyone. I need to purchase a used cell phone or unlocked phone without a contract. I'm looking for something like a small wireless store that sells phones for all networks and stuff like that. My phone is broken and not eligible for upgrade until august so just need something to get me through until then really. I've seen places like this in other cities but just relocated back to this area and don't know of anywhere. thanks for your help.

or visit your provider's store and buy one of those "GO" phones with no monthly contracts and register it as your primary phone.

Yeah, you took the words out of my mouth. You can GO phones anywhere (Walmart, 7-11, Target), ranging from $10 on up. You can't beat it if you need a replacement phone.

FWIW, I've had a good experience with the pay-as-you-go phone. I have one from Virgin Mobile that I got at a drugstore (sold everywhere as others have stated). I think the phone was $10 and I get $.10/minute for voice, $.15 text. I picked VM because the prices were agreeable and I liked their website and packaging. I've had it for almost a year now and use it a couple of times a week with no problems whatsoever. Great reception everywhere I've used it too (from Raleigh to Durham even in Florida and Indiana).

I've gotten a few phones from ebay over the years. Just be sure to use Paypal so you can file a dispute if you run into any problems.
