We need to hire someone to paint the front porch trim and railings and to stain and reseal the porch floor and back deck. The deck may need a board or two replaced.

Every time we hire someone, we have a miserable experience. Please help me change our luck. I want someone who will do a quality job at a reasonable price, with no fuss or bother. I also want them to be bonded. I welcome any recommendations you may have.

Also, if you have any idea of what such a think would cost, I would appreciate your thoughts on that as well. It helps to have an idea going in... Thanks!

I've received several recommendations from posters on this thread for other types of projects. Be careful of the ones who are recommending their husbands or relatives but don't mention that they are the wife. Make sure you ask if they actually had the work done to weed out the ones just advertising for someone they know.

jbeach1982 - I hope someone steps forward to help. I started this thread, but to continue the story, DH and I decided to do the deck and porch work ourselves. He powerwashed and sanded and I painted. We finished the deck and have made great progress on the porch, but probably won't finish it until the heat lifts a little. With the money we saved, we joined the neighborhood pool, which has been great!

Good choice!! I do the painting and staining myself! I did paint for years with another teacher back in NJ during the summers and weekends. So I know what to do. Glad you guys did the work yourselves. Its JUST painting!!!

Two thumbs up!
