I stared for about 20 seconds, decided I'd rather run from it and then skedaddled. Very impressive to see (I'd seen another one when I was a kid in Ohio), but very spooky to see that whirling overhead with very little wind on the ground.

Not my picture by the way, that was taken by someone else in Hillsborough, and put on WRALs website.

All clear to the south so we hightailed it out of there. Spooky.
holy crap and some stronger 4 letter words! if i looked outside and saw that, i think i might start screaming like a little girl. i've never seen a funnel cloud in my nearly 27 years of life. i don't need one my first day in raleigh... with my luck, i'll find the spire of the RBC Plaza impaling my car's glass roof...

Within in my first few weeks of living in Raleigh several tornados went through (anyone remember the ones that took out the KMart on Glenwood Ave. back in '88?). Everyone blamed me for bringing them with me since I'm from the Midwest. The description that everyone gives of it sounded like a train or racecar about to come right through the house is right on.
