Where would you recommend shopping for used furniture? What places can you find gently used furniture, large selection and decent prices?

Default How About Consignment Stores, Also?

I live in Northern California. Within the past several years we've seen stores called "Consign It" open up that sell gently used furniture, etc. They also carry model home furniture. I'd be interested in knowing if there is anything like that in the Raleigh area. The furniture is generally about 50% lower than regular store cost.

There's the Furniture Exchange on Capital Blvd. near 540 - if you're heading south on rt 1, it's just before 540, on the right, set back a bit from the road. I've seen some decent things in there, and there is some room for movement in the price. You have to ask how firm the prices are. Some things I find too expensive for what it is, other things are more reasonaable. You have to remember that it's the consigner who sets the price, not the store. They just add a little for their margin, and it's that margin that they can negotiate a little. They have some nice antiques from time to time. There is also an antique refinisher right behind them. They might sell as well, though I've never been in there to check it out.

I would think yard sales would be your best bet this time of year!
