Looking for some zip codes that are near the "cooler" area of Raleigh, or just the areas near the farmer's market, downtown, and the more central parts. We are okay with living within 10-15 of these parts, but our range is only up to 250K, which seems to be possible but since Raleigh is so big we are trying to narrow it down by zip codes and/areas.

I would suggest checking out the Lakemont, North Glen, Cedar Hills and Fairfax Hills areas in old North Raleigh.Very convenient areas that are mature n'hoods with trees and many longtime families that fill them. Minutes to the new North Hills, A easy shot to downtown/Five Points. Glenwood South. Should be able to find something in your price range. Good luck.
One word of warning with this particular area. It has a ton of older split level floorplans. Split level floorplans are not very popular, for obvious reasons when you walk in. The natural setting is nice, but be careful of which home you choose if you pick this area. With your price range, you could do better in some other locations and not be stuck with the basic box designs in this outdated 60's style neighborhood.
