Auto business (sales) is very poor.

Do not come here w/o a job.

Auto business as in car sales? Dealerships are constantly hiring new people even now because of a high turnover rate. I live in Cary and am within walking distance of several grocery stores, pharmacies, and restaurants. It is a growing city, but chocked full of shopping Cary Towne mall, WalMart, Target and Cary Crossroads shopping center with stores like Old Navy and Best Buy and the movie theatre are just a short ride down the road (not by highway). There is also a large Auto Mall with several different dealerships right down Cary Parkway.

Please come here if you would like. I realize that you are an adult and can make decisions for yourself. Over 91% of the folks that live in Triangle are employed right now. Good luck.

She specifically mentioned that they would come here and THEN look for a job, in her post.

It's always best to find employment first, then make your decision about where to live, if it turns out to be Wake County. It's a large county and just plopping down somewhere might turn out to be a long commute from where your job was, assuming you found one.

Mimi, I'm not a hater or trying to be rude to you but be cautious, the job market here is horrible across all fields well except IT.

Default IT jobs are down, too

That is not true. It's bad in IT. It's okay for some developers, depending upon their specific skills. But in general, it's not good at all.

I've worked in IT departments for a long time.

I also read an RTP study at the end of last year that said locally, IT, project management, and middle management jobs were hard hit.

Several dealerships have already closed. More to follow since GM and Chrysler are pruning dealer ranks.
