I would say $10 plus an additional dollar for each additional child.

I pay $10 an hour, but admit I never use anyone under 18.

Yeah, I'd def. say don't ask for more than $10/hr. I got paid about $12/hr but I had experience in licensed facilities and was working on a master's degree at the time.

Probably not more than $10 an hour to start.
You've got to consider that your competition in a lot of cases in the triangle is going to be college and grad students with more experience, and they're going to be wanting to be paid accordingly.

Also consider that even though they seem not be to in financial trouble, these days you never know.

I know someone who had a nanny working for them -- both parents work outside the home -- soon after starting work, the nanny asked them is she could borrow $10,000! Umm, most people do not have that lying around -- just because someone uses a nanny or childcare does not mean they have lots of money -- often both people work because they need money.

That said, best of luck to you with this job -- it's great you are so young and already earning some income for yourself -- way to go!

I think it is interesting that when I was a teenager in the 1970s, it was common to pay babysitters less than minimum wage (~50%). Now it is common to pay above minimum wage. Hmmm, supply and demand must have changed.

Yeah I used to do it in the 90's as a teen for around $2-$3/hr. Teens these days are pretty lucky. Hell I used to cut lawns for $5-$10 a pop now you can get $20, even with inflation that's way above where we were at.
