I've used the Camp Bow Wow in Durham and was very pleased with it, I would defintely recommend it to anyone. They even had webcams set up in all the play areas so you can watch your dog from work
I've boarded one of my dogs twice at Sunny Acres Pet Resort-- they were very friendly and I was happy with the service.
I have since gotten a more active dog in addition to my older dog (who mainly likes to sleep so doesn't mind being inside) and am thinking about Camp Bow Wow for an upcoming trip since they have the webcams -- plus, I've heard that they let your dog out for the whole day without charging extra. At Sunny Acres, you are charged a lower rate per night of boarding but then about the same rate as Camp Bow Wow if you want your dog to be able to go outside and play during the day.
Is this true about Camp Bow Wow? Would my dog be able to stay outside all day if boarded there? Have people really had success viewing their webcams? Looking at their website, it seems they only work in Internet Explorer which doesn't bode well for not having technical difficulties with the cams.
We board our fuzzy little guy at the CBW in North Durham (called the "Chapel Hill" location oddly enough), and couldn't be happier. We've also used the other Durham location. The cameras always work (albeit only in IE), the staff is great, they even know me on the phone as soon as I mention my dog's name. They'll even make sure to trim nails and give baths (at your request and extra cost, of course) at the END of the day so your dog hasn't been playing all day after getting an early bath. And yes, they keep the dogs roaming free (open doorways between outside and inside) with what seems to be a break in the middle of the day for dogs to eat/rest and for the staff to clean everything for the afternoon session. Then they're typically roaming until probably 4 or 5. You can even tell on the webcams how much the staff loves hanging out with the dogs, playing and letting them swarm around them.
I know I sound like I work for CBW or something, but I swear, we're just very happy customers.

That was part of the reason I chose Camp Bow Wow, because it wasn't extra money for my boarded dog to get to join in with the daycare dogs and play during the day. The dogs get put up around noon I believe for a little rest and so the dog care workers can clean the play areas, but then they're back out until 5 I think.
I've never had any problems viewing the webcams at both the Durham and Cary location, but that's about the only time I use IE.
Now that I'm out in Pittsboro though, I have fallen in love with a facility out here, Companion Camp. It's like summer camp for dogs and they go on hikes everyday through the woods, and get play time in the play area all while sharing a cabin with another dog (they're seperated but in the same cabin) and have a dog door to a fully enclosed outdoor area. Just thought I would toss that out there as another really nice place for anyone looking at boarding options.
