I'm going to Maggiano's at Southpoint for dinner Saturday night. I've never been before. Is this a fancy place? What would be appropriate to wear? I am a girl.

Maggiano's is a chain restaurant, fairly similar to the Cheesecake Factory. I've seen diners wearing attire ranging from jeans to formal wear (pre-prom dinners). You should dress for the occasion rather than the restaurant itself.

However, as my grandmother always said, "It is better to be overdressed than underdressed."

P.S. I am a woman in my early 30's using my husband's account.

It's at the mall so you can go casual. But like the last poster said dress for the occasion. You can go dressy or not, no big deal. Pretty good food, although I haven't been in years.

I think a nice sundress or something similar would be perfect.

Maggiano's is a casual Italian chain that serves pretty decent Italian food - both individual entrees and family style. It's a great place for families and large groups. Pretty noisy but it can be a fun time.

Yum! don't let the word "chain" fool you. Maggiano's is a better Italian restaurant than nearly all of the others in the Triangle (and some in NYC).

This is a restaurant that has entrees ranging from $15-$25, so you are much better off overdressing than looking like a fool. It is totally inappropriate for someone in jeans, a t-shirt, and flip-flops to be in a restaurant this nice. However jackets and ties are fairly rare here, so it isn't like the Angus Barn, Second Empire, or City Club.

I've seen folks in there in t-shirts and flip flops.

The food is way overrated.

I love the food there, we go quite often.

Most of the time I just wear shorts and a T-Shirt, as that is my typical dress anywhere. The girl normally puts on a summer dress, or a polo shirt, but nothing too fancy. I guess I am just inappropriate..... I wear what is comfortable to me.

It's dinner with a guy so I guess it's a date. Maybe now would be a good time to go shopping for a dress!

Moderator cut: quote

I enjoy going there with a large group like workgroups/family outings because we can take advantage of the family style menu! You'll be rolling home, but the leftovers and selection are worth it!
