We are new to Cary and are looking for a church. Our ideal church would have a strong high school youth group and a service with contemporary music. We are Catholic but have been attending an Episcopal church the last few years. Our teenagers loved our church in SC and we are hoping to find something similar here. Any suggestions?
Well, if an Episcopal church works for you, a Lutheran church may not be much of a stretch. Christ the King church in Cary seems to have a pretty active high school youth group and offers two traditional and two contemporary services every Sunday.

I was going to suggest Christ the King as well. My kids go to preschool there and just did VBS there. VBS was very well staffed with very enthusiastic teenagers from the youth group; I was very impressed. They have both traditional and contemporary services, and I'm told that the traditional appeals to those raised in the Catholic tradition. I also have some Catholic friends who go to Bible Study at CTK.
St. Mary Magdalene in Apex has a great new youth group (really religious ed, but more modern with focus on meeting as a community (by age groups) instead of in classrooms and doing different community service projects)
We have had a number of Catholics come and attend Connections. It is a non-denominational church, so people from various backgrounds attend. We don't require people to get "baptized" at our church to be a part of the community. The worship is contemporary and there is a very strong youth ministry.
I second St. Michael's. I'm on their young adult email listserv (haven't yet attended as I'm recently new), and they've got some good events going on there.
Thank you so much for the suggestions. We visited Christ the King Lutheran today and liked it very much. Just what we were looking for. And we do know what churches look like.
Evangel Assembly of God in Durham, has a very active, church-involved youth group of teen-aged individuals with excellent youth leadership. When people speak of Durham's diversity, nothing can compare to the feeling of a service worshipping God with Americans, Hispanics, Africans, Filipinos, Trinidadians and many other nationalities. Wed. evening youth groups start at 7:30.
