I am planning now to move to NC in 2011 from the DMV area. I'm not sure of the area mainly where ever I get the job first: FT Bragg, Charlotte, Raleigh. I currently have 10 years of DBA experience and an inactive TS. Does anyone have ideas of the best leads for me.

Thank you.

The IT field has been hit hard in the Triangle.

It is a bit hard to say now what jobs might be available (if any) in a year and a half in 2011

Default try monster

I moved to NC...I started looking at monster for jobs in NC, you will get an idea of where most DBA jobs are....Charlotte has more DBA jobs than RTP.

good luck.

There is no possible way to know what the job outlook for ANY field, ANY location is going to be like in 2011. Would anyone have predicted two years ago what the market would be like now?

Why have you already decided to move to this area two years from now, not having any idea whether you'll get a job or not? Better is to search for places you CAN work and move there, when the time comes.

It's cyclical but we're in the crapper right now and have been since early last year.

I have IT friends across the talent scope that can't find anything after 4 months.

I sure hope things are better by the time you get here!

IT will rebound by 2011... if not, we all will have A LOT more to worry about than the job market. But like the others have stated, you're better off looking a little closer to your intended move date.

Thanks nc99 and other positive people this is helpful so I know where to target my search. I'm specialized as a DBA not just any IT job. I am on dice, monster, and usajobs. I started seraching four years ago but my parents died and I stopped searching for a while. I have been looking at monster but they seem to recycle the same jobs. I was wondering about the areas. I know the military is in FBragg but everyone seems to talk about RTP so I was starting to serach for info there. I think I might just continue searching and planning for a Charlotte or FBragg move I'm not sure about RTP any more. I have a house here that I have to prepare to rent or sell so I was giving myself some time. I also know that the Brac is going to bring jobs to NC around the time I'm moving.

What type of DBA are you? If you let me know I can tell you more of the type of opportunity you might be able to find here.
