You could go look at Sharon Harris Nuclear plant, or explore the outdoor trails at the NC Art Museum.

Thanks so much for all of your suggestions! It's great that local people are active on this forum. We will be in the area for 2-3 days and these suggestions really help to plan a mix of museum and park activities to sandwich in between looking at a few neighborhoods. I looked at some listings for the Ridgefield neighborhood, and the housing stock is older. We'll definitely be looking for a younger home - what about Wake Forest neighborhood suggestions, $350K w/community pool?
