I have a bad cold, and I don't feel like eating grocery store soup. Who in the triangle makes amazing soup?

For today I'd prefer the Chapel Hill/Carrboro/Durham/Hillsborough area, but for the future I'd love to know about good soup anywhere in the triangle.

My screaming nasal passages and lungs thank you.

It's a chain and I'm not that familiar with that area so I'm going to say Panera!

Boondini's in North Raleigh has great soups. He makes homemade cajun stew, outer banks style clam chowder, vegatable, white bean and chicken and rice. All are excellent. Also, The Community Grocery on Oberlin has wonderful, chicken and rice, gumbo, brunswick stew. Dan has mastered these soups and stews. I highly reccomend this place. It is not much to look at, but great soups and subs.sandwiches plus slow cooked pinto's, blackeye's and navy beans.

Actually, he's on Falls of Neuse in N. Raleigh between 440 and 540. I came here to recommend the restaurant to the poster. The soups there are amazing.

Unfortunately the soups at Panera are rather salty and have a definite "processed" taste. OK for lunch if you are in a hurry but not "great" IMO.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. In the meantime I went with good old progresso but I'll try the others soon.

Soupman on Falls shut down and disconnected the phone. Was by there today.

Lousy prices, stingy portions.

Chicken soup is so easy to make.

Make rice or boil noodles.
Get large can of chicken broth and a rotisserie chicken from Sam's.
Get some cans of vegetables or cut up fresh ones.
Rip apart some of the chicken. Freeze the rest for another day for stir fry or sandwiches.
Dump everything in a big pot. Boil.
Enjoy soup. Put the rest away for the next few days.

Tastes a million times better than canned soups.
